Mount Desert Island is a most beautiful place to live. If you have been here, you will agree. If you have
not, you should come for a visit. The island yields many activities in the summer months and the warmth
of a small town community throughout the winter. Acadia National Park provides endless hiking trails,
carriage paths for biking, Cadillac Mountain for sunrises and sunsets, miles of rocky coastlines, freshwater
lakes for swimming, and a gorgeous natural shell beach. The island is divided into four town
municipalities: Bar Harbor, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, and Tremont. Each town offers many unique
shops, restaurants, and sightseeing areas. There are varieties of sailing, whale watching, and kayaking
trips offered everyday out of Bar Harbor and ferries to some of the smaller islands off the coast of
Mt. Desert. The school systems are great, the people are open and friendly and the weather is mild. We
feel it’s the most wonderful place to visit or live.
